Pain and discomfort in the bones and joints can be a really big problem for many people irrespective of their age. What is RA Anyway?

RA is the short form for Rheumatoid Arthritis and it is a problem where a person can experience pain in their wrists, elbows, foot, hands, etc.

Signs

There are many different signs that are associated with the different parts of the body. Some of the areas which are the most visible are explained below. They are the earliest signs for RA that help a person better to be prepared to deal with it.

  • Wrist

This is the most affected part of the body and a person would find difficulty in bending their wrist forwards or backwards.

  • Hands

For most people, the hands might be affected first as well. Whenever hands are squeezed or moved, the pain is experienced while the strength for gripping might also be affected. Some people also feel swelling and redness on the entire hand.

  • Foot

Sometimes the early stages of RA cause redness and swelling on the top of feet or at the base of the toes that become very tender. It often becomes very painful to walk under such conditions as the weight is shifted to the heels, and toes are bent upwards while standing, walking etc. The heel can also pain in the case of regular walking.

  • Elbow

The elbow can also be affected due to RA so early signs of RA can also be seen if it becomes swollen and inflamed. It can cause numbness and tingling in the fingers as a result of which nerve compressions can be felt within the elbows.

General Symptoms

Looking at the different areas that can be affected to notice the early signs of RA, there are many small as well as large joints that can be affected later as well. The most visible sign for RA is that the joint involvement always has a distinctive pattern in it and it is always seen on both sides of the body with the same joints. This pattern might not be evident very early but it is definitely the go-to sign for consulting orthopedic doctors  immediately.  At this point the orthopedic doctors can start with the process to treat RA so that it does not go beyond unbearable pain
